This publisher has recently improved a lot and now has a couple of titles of note.
This is aimed at a younger female audience. Adapted from a girls’ manga (Shoujo), the major themes deal with relationships and finding ones way in the world. From the point of view of learning Japanese this is good as there are quite a lot of domestic everyday situations and language you’d recognise after a few Japanese lessons. But it’s enjoyable and funny in its own right. It even has a fan base or you could try reading the Japanese site at TV Tokyo
This anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Ken Akumatsu. Keitaro a 2nd year ronin (someone who didn’t get into University) takes over the running of his grandmothers hotel and onsen. However its now an all girl dorm. And that supplies the tension to the stories. It has been toned down a lot from the the manga (which is just a tad ecchi at times) but its still quite fun.
MVM also publish Serial Experiments Lain. This is a strange anime and I’d only recommend it to artists and animators rather than a general audience. It does have a bit of a cult following though.
